Tennis Footwork Drills: The Snake and Sprint
The Snake and Sprint is a great tennis footwork drill because it combines small, quick steps and an all out burst of speed. If you watch the footwork of tennis professionals such as Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic, they are able to move around the tennis court by using longer steps when farther away from the ball and small adjustment steps and footwork when they have time and are closer to the ball. By incorporating both small, quick steps and an all out burst of speed, your tennis footwork will mimic that of a tennis match.

Tennis Footwork Drills: Adjustment Steps
Adjustment steps are something that is lacking in the tennis footwork of a lot of tennis players. Since working with beginner to WTA Professional tennis players, I have noticed that it is extremely important to adjust your feet to the ball if you have time. This tennis footwork drill is designed to help you organize your feet when transitioning from being on the run to stepping into a ball. It is important to know when to use tennis footwork such as adjustment steps and when to perform and open stance groundstroke. If you have time, you want to use your tennis footwork, organize your feet and step in. If you are on the run and are out of time, it is preferred that you hit the ball in an open stance in order to recover back to the middle of the tennis court faster.
